An Employment Pass is a permit given to foreign professionals or highly skilled individuals who wish to work in Singapore. These candidates need to meet the following criteria in order to qualify for an Employment Pass:
- Be offered a managerial or senior job position in Singapore
- Earn a fixed monthly salary of $3,600 (more skilled applicants require a higher amount)
- Possess qualifications, usually a university degree, or specific skills
Foreigners of all nationalities are able to apply for an Employment Pass. Once they have managed to secure a job here in Singapore, their employer or authorised third party agency must apply for a Pass on the candidate’s behalf prior to their arrival in Singapore. Once the application is successful, the Employment Pass will be valid for a period of two years, and can be renewed for another three years.
Foreigners who are Employment Pass holders can also apply for a Dependent Pass for their spouse as well as children below 21 years old. These should also be done by their employer or third party agency.
