Quick answer: If something material changes while your PR application is being assessed, update ICA rather than waiting. Log in to the e-Service through MyICA and select “Update information” inside your case summary page. Singpass users log in with Singpass; those who applied without Singpass log in with the application Reference ID. If the field you need to change is not available under Update Information, submit the change through ICA’s enquiry form while the application is still being processed.
A pay rise, a promotion, a new baby or a change of address during the waiting period are all worth telling ICA about. The application is assessed on your circumstances, and the file should reflect them.
What this page is not
If you want to know whether a decision has been made, that is a different task. See our guide to checking your PR application status. This page is about changing the information already in a submitted application.
How to update
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to MyICA and open the e-Service for your PR application |
| 2 | Log in with Singpass, or with the application Reference ID if you applied without Singpass |
| 3 | Open your case summary page |
| 4 | Select “Update information” |
| 5 | Make the change and submit, keeping a copy of the acknowledgement |
| 6 | If the field you need is not listed there, submit the change through ICA’s enquiry form while the application is under processing |
What is worth updating
| Change | Update it? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Salary increase | Yes | Economic contribution is one of the factors ICA considers |
| Promotion or change of job title | Yes | The role assessed should match the current one |
| Change of employer | Yes | See the note below, because this is the biggest one |
| New child born in Singapore | Yes | It changes your family profile |
| Marriage or divorce | Yes | Family ties are assessed |
| New residential address | Yes | ICA uses declared residential information |
| New passport | Yes | The record must match your travel document |
| New qualification completed | Usually | Qualifications are assessed |
| Small changes to allowances | Not usually | Unless the gross monthly figure changes materially |
If your salary or job title changed
This is the most common update, and it works in your favour when the change is upward.
- Update the figure through the e-Service.
- Have a fresh letter of employment ready, since ICA’s checklist asks for a letter dated no more than 3 months before application, and an updated letter supports the new figure. Our guide to the employer letter sets out what it must contain.
- Keep payslips consistent with the new figure.
- Do not withdraw and resubmit the application just to reflect a pay rise. Updating is the normal route.
If you are considering a new application instead
ICA notes that while there is no limit on how many times you may apply, you should only apply again when there is a substantial change in your circumstances since your last application. Job changes, promotions and salary increases are the kind of change that counts.
That guidance is about reapplying after an outcome, not about withdrawing a pending application. While your application is still being assessed, update it rather than starting again.
What not to do
| Mistake | Why it hurts |
|---|---|
| Waiting until the outcome to mention a change | The assessment is made on the information ICA holds |
| Submitting a second application while the first is pending | Creates confusion, and does not speed anything up |
| Updating the figure but not having documents to match | Inconsistency is a common cause of requests for more information |
| Sending documents by email outside the official channels | Use the e-Service or the enquiry form |
| Chasing weekly for a decision | It does not change the outcome, and ICA does not publish queue positions |
How long you may be waiting
ICA aims to process PR applications within 6 months when documents are complete, and some take longer. Our guide to PR processing time covers what affects it. During that window, keep your pass valid, keep your records consistent, and update ICA when something material changes.
If the news is bad
A change is not always positive. If you lose your job while the application is pending, your basis for the application changes, because most working applicants apply as Employment Pass or S Pass holders. Tell ICA, and take advice on whether to continue or to withdraw and apply again once you are re-employed. Our guide on what to do after a PR rejection covers the next stage if it comes to that.

Frequently asked questions
Can I update my PR application after submitting it?
Yes. Log in to the e-Service through MyICA, open your case summary page and select “Update information”.
How do I update if I applied without Singpass?
Log in to the e-Service with the Reference ID of the submitted application, then use Update Information in the case summary page.
What if the information I need to change is not listed?
Submit the change through ICA’s enquiry form while your application is still being processed.
Should I tell ICA about a salary increase while my PR application is pending?
Yes. Economic contribution is one of the factors assessed, and the file should reflect your current position.
Should I tell ICA if I change jobs?
Yes. The role being assessed should match your actual employment.
Do I need a new employer letter after a pay rise?
It is sensible. ICA’s checklist asks for a letter dated no more than 3 months before application, and an updated letter supports the new figure.
Should I withdraw and reapply instead of updating?
No. While the application is pending, update it. Reapplying is for after an outcome, and ICA advises reapplying only when there is a substantial change in circumstances.
Can I submit a second application while the first is pending?
No. Update the existing application instead.
Will updating my application restart the processing time?
ICA does not publish a rule on this. Processing is generally within 6 months, and some cases take longer.
What if I lose my job while the application is pending?
Tell ICA, and take advice. Your basis for applying changes if you applied as an Employment Pass or S Pass holder.
