FAQs
What is the difference between a Dependant's Pass and an LTVP?
A Dependant's Pass (DP) is for legally married spouses and children under 21 of EP/S-Pass holders earning S$6,000+. An LTVP covers other family members common-law spouses, stepchildren, handicapped children 21+, and parents as well as family of SC/PR holders via ICA.
Can an LTVP holder work in Singapore?
Yes. Standard LTVP holders need a Letter of Consent (LOC) applied for by their employer through MOM. LTVP+ holders (foreign spouses of SC with citizen children) can work freely for any employer without an LOC.
How long does LTVP processing take?
MOM-linked LTVP applications typically take around 6 weeks. ICA applications for spouses of Singapore Citizens can take up to 6 months due to additional checks on the genuineness of the marriage.
Can my parents get an LTVP?
Yes. If you hold an EP or S-Pass and earn at least S$12,000/month, you can sponsor your parents for an LTVP via MOM. If you are a Singapore Citizen or PR, your parents can apply for an LTVP through ICA.
Can an LTVP lead to Permanent Residency (PR)?
An LTVP itself does not directly qualify you for PR. However, LTVP holders who are spouses of Singapore Citizens or PRs may apply for PR under the Family Ties scheme through ICA. Having an LTVP+ and a stable family unit strengthens the PR application.
